I love their staff and the doctors there. When I first started to look for a vet for my husky I called ALL of the veterinary hospitals here in Bakersfield and found Southwest to be the best in price and they are convinently located near me (which is a good thing since my dog gets car sick). Once i arrived the staff there greeted me with wide smiles and were very helpful. I don't have a preference for a vet there since all of their doctors are amazing and super helpful. We moved to Bakersfield from the Bay Area and were sad to leave our awesome vet behind. When it came time to take Seymour to the vet for a check-up, we did a lot of research and asked co-workers about their vets. We decided to go with Southwest Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Mark Holland saw our dog and was fantastic. He was really friendly and Seymour seemed to like him. He didn't rush and spent a lot of time with us, answering questions. First I do want to say the doctors at this hospital are very good, that's why I go here. I have been taking my pets to this place for more than 20 years. And, I do know that Bakersfield is has a big shortage on vetrinary services, due to lack of veterinarians. However, the staff who tend to the many phone calls everyday could use some improvement on addressing this matter. Nobody should be made to wait on hold for more than 30 minutes! Soonest appointment is 90 days out. This seems to be a recurring theme with all vets in Bakersfield, or they simply aren't taking new clients at all.

This Vets office has changed and not in a good way. If you care as most of us do about your furry family members I would look elsewhere for a good doctor. The lack of compassion and customer service is horrendous. I am happy to report we have since moved to find a much better veterinary office.

$55 to Schedule my appointment in July for 1:10pm and confirmed over the phone July 14. Was told I'll get a reminder text. While that text came at 11:25 am the day of appointment. When trying to call at 12 (what a surprise very one at lunch) and someone did call me to ask if I wanted to reschedule 123pm but I would have to pay additional $55. I wish I had overall good feedback for this Vet's office, however that is just not the case. Pro's: * Our dog did receive adequate care on the 3 occasions we brought him in.
