My intial thought of this place was not so high when i brought my cat in many years ago. The doctor whom i dont remember his name asked me why I mutilated my cat. I looked at him with a pause and said "Your an idiot she is a Manx." For several years I didnt come back until my cat was terminally ill. Me and my husband have been using this vet for 16 years and love it! Dr. Holland and Dr. Anderson are both really amazing and the staff is always friendly and the techs are great and compassionate with the animals!

I love bringing my puppy Sulley in to Southwest. The staff- particularly Jessica the receptionist and Dr. Holland make my experience the best I have ever had at a vet's office. In truth, Jessica has been very informative with what to expect as far as cost and always has a friendly smile, and really has a wonderful demeanor in person and on the phone alike. I also appreciate that Dr. Holland really has a conversation with me every time I bring my little guy in for his puppy vaccines. He genuinely listens to my puppy concerns ... read more

Today was my first trip to Southwest Veterinary Hospital. I was impressed with how nice all of the staff were. I thought Dr. Hannah took great care with my pet and made sure I understood everything. He showed such care and concern. I'm new to Bakersfield, and I am really happy that I've found such a wonderful place to take my pets when they need care.

We don't have any kids, but our furbabies are everything to us! We wouldn't trust them to anyone else. The vets here genuinely care, are helpful, and don't gouge you for every penny. They do try to respect your budget and financial constraints. We actually strayed once to go to a vet closer to our home, it was a complete disaster, and will never stray again.

Update: we have continued to take our animals/kids here and they continue to exceed our expectations! They have been wonderful to all of our animals, and we have received extremely prompt service. All of our appointments have been handled on time (if not earlier) and they have always been willing to work us in (it's happened three times now). All of our dogs prescriptions have been promptly called into the pharmacy. Not that it's super important to us considering the treatment we receive, their prices are very competitive,... read more

I've been to my fair share of vet hospitals because I have 3 cats and a dog. Every body at Southwest Vet are extremely friendly and helpful, most notably, Dr. Sunderson. He genuinely loves what he does and it shows. He goes over and beyond the call of duty to ensure the highest success for your four legged children. I highly recommend him!

I found this place on yelp! Only being about a mile away from where we live, its so convenient! The staff was very nice and I especially LOVE Dr. Clark! She is the one who examined my dog. She was very helpful and very informative with what we needed to know! This will definitely be our place to go! I recommend it!
