I have been going here for some time, I was not happy with the office,the doctors or their staff but it was close to my home. After more than a year and several visits I can tell you this, the focus is on money more than care. I have watched the staff try and up sell senior citizens flea meds. People who probably struggle to pay their own bills yet love their animals and make sure to get them to the doctor anyways. Do not use this vet! Staff is rude and does not care about your animals. I am a long time client for both my animals and this morning was turned away with an emergency. I have a very very sick puppy and is bleeding really bad. They refused to even look at him and even went as far as turning me away. They told me that I just need to take him to ER because they can see him right away .... let me add I was at the vet when they opened so it's not like it was late at night. I would like to share the horrific service we experienced at Southwest Veterinary Hospital. In the middle of the night, our yorkie, Charlie became violently ill throwing up and having severe diarrhea to the point he was bleeding from his rear end. In response to your response to my review. This is not correct: "According to the receptionist notes on your conversation, an appointment the following morning was offered and was declined." I was not offered an appointment the following morning. I was told by the receptionist that your were fully booked when I asked if we could bring Mathew in the next morning. Your receptionist did not report her notes correctly.

Really bad customer service. Don't ask too many questions or they'll ban you from their office.
Horrible customer service , horrible communication , horrible compassion , horrible schedule management , just awful. Don't waste your time at this vet. My dog has seizures , I moved to Bakersfield last minute and only had a a day of medicine left for him , after calling this vet on a Saturday she assured me she would call me back and set up time for me to come in after she received fax from my vet in LA. Well, I called today to request a ballpark estimate on three specific procedures for my dog and they refused to give one unless I paid $50 for a visit. Since an estimate is pretty standard and several other vets are willing to work with me, I am going to one of them instead. The only good thing I can say is the receptionist who answered the phone was friendly.
I called 6/18/14 at 430 and spoke to Kelly who answered the phone. She was very nice and seemed friendly enough. I have been asking different places for rough estimates on cat declawing. This is the only place that was not able to give me an estimate. When asked why she stuttered and fumbled trying to come up with an excuse. She said "it varies."
