I've been bringing my cats here for a while. The service is wonderful. The front desk staff is efficient (handling paperwork, payments, and prescriptions), and the doctors are great. I have seen all of them, but the cats seem to have settled as Dr. Boyd's patients, and I have no complaints. The news is not always good, but the options are laid out and there is always a strong element of compassion. I think just about everyone there I've dealt with has pets, so they understand, this is more than a job to them.

The folks at Suburban have been absolutely fantastic for all our needs. We brought our newly-adopted cat to Suburban last year for her initial checkup and have received excellent vet services and have been extremely pleased with the boarding as well. The Front Desk staff is always friendly and delightful to work with!

My family has been using Suburban for care of our two dogs for more than a decade. We have been to several other local vets, but these folks are by far the best. Dr. Schrader will spend a LOT of time with you sitting on the floor with your pet and explaining all aspects of what is going on with "our friend". He has done major surgeries including knee replacement for our dogs (TPLO) as well as routine care. The facilites are state of the art and the staff are always helpful. Drs. Halbert and Casper have also treated our ... read more

This is the first time I've had to take my dog in for a non-preventative visit, and I couldn't be happier with my dogs care. The front desk staff was helpful and attentive; I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for the appointment and checked out quickly and efficiently. Dr. Kalinsky is so professional and explained everything she was seeing/feeling in detail and the tech was so kind to my trembling dog. She informed me of the charges for the x-rays and lab work and explained how to administer the meds and what they were for. ... read more

I have two young cats and have seen Dr. Boyd several times for various issues after SAH was recommended to me by another vet who lives in my building. Dr. Boyd was very kind and knowledgeable, and has been great dealing with my "hard to handle" cat. The front office staff has been very helpful, especially with providing specific paperwork for my pet insurance company, and I can usually get an appointment the same day I call. I have had no complaints and would happily recommend them to others. My only caveat; I have never... read more

Our family has been going to Suburban animal hospital for almost 20 years with our dogs. I have been going to Dr. Schrader with my own dog for the last 5-years and he spends over 20 min with my golden retriever every time she is there. He does not order unnecessary tests and was spot on when changing my dog to venison food due to continued ear infections. She no longer has ear infections and less visits to the vet. Dr. Schrader sits on the floor with dog and really explains diagnoses well and why he thinks this is the co... read more

Dr. Schrader and the staff at Suburban are the most helpful and caring doctors we've ever had. The time and care he took to in correcting the damage the humane society vet inflicted on our adopted dachshund was absolutely amazing. He takes time to talk with you about the health of your pet, even involving my daughters in the conversation. I will never take my pets anywhere else!

Overall, we had great experiences with Suburban Animal Hospital (SAH). We took our pets (one cat and one dog) there for about eight years or so before they both passed away. Our previous vet (Old Dominion Animal Health Center) seemed predominately focused on separating us from as much of our money as possible. In contrast, the folks at SAH provide realistic and reasoned advice on what treatment options are available that also make the most sense for our pet and budget. In particular, Dr. Kimberly Halbert provided exceptiona... read more

The views that some reviewers express is hard for me to understand. I don't doubt what they're saying reflects what's happened, but it's just so different from my experience. I have taken all the cats I've ever had to Suburban Animal Hospital since 1976 and have never been disappointed with either the front desk staff, or more importantly the veterinarians. The treatment provided to my animals from when they were kittens through their old age has always been first rate. Similarly, the front desk folks have been both fr... read more
