I have been going to this "hospital" for over 10 years, and I have watched the service go downhill and the prices way uphill. A few years ago, after the practice was sold, we moved our general veterinary care to another facility. The new facility is one quarter to one third the cost of Suburban for the same level of service or better - and they don't try to sell you services that are just "nice to have". Some of the front desk staff have become rude and the last time we went there we had to wait in the hot sun for 15 minu... read more
I had a terrible experience today at this office. I took my new puppy in to receive her last round of vaccinations, which were Distemper, Rabies, and Bordatella (which she didn't need, but I was talked into it), and the bill for a first visit was a whopping $400. She also had a fecal exam (usually done once for puppies and she had just had this done a week prior) and 4 dewormings by the breeder (as many as required for a puppy), and the vet did those yet again to basically charge more. After this, I took my puppy home and sh... read more
Beware. After many years of very good care at Suburban Animal Hospital I was astounded when I was refused care early Sunday morning when our dog who needed to see a veterinarian. I was told that they are all booked and unable to help me. As it happened years ago my dog needed care early Sunday morning during the days Dr. Snyder owned the practice and I was not turned away. They seemed to be only too happy to fit my dog in. When it is your pet that needs care a veterinarian who knows your pet should be there. Consequently we ... read more
Very nice people with extremely questionable hospital hygiene. My cat has had two annual checkups here and has gotten sick after both visits. On my first visit I was surprised to see used towels/blankets covering the exam tables, which I'd never seen at an animal hospital before. The day after my cat's checkup, she started vomiting with diarrhea and was sick for four days. During her second checkup she was in excellent health. The following week she almost died. She stopped eating, could barely walk, had dripping eyes an... read more
Very bad place SUBURBAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL only wants to take the money from people. Front counter old woman was rude and nasty. She act like she is the doctor. They won't let me speak to veterinarian unless bring my dog. Please beware this ANIMAL HOSPITAL that will not save your pets life.
I love Dr Boyd and Dr Rohm, and some of other vets here. My reason for the bad review is that most of the front desk staff are not great (there are some exceptions). We like to see a particular vet for consistency of care and have on multiple occasions been booked with a different vet despite voicing our preference at the time of booking--then showing up to be told the vet we thought we scheduled with us not in that day (even though the confirmation call was for the correct vet). I don't understand why this has to happen r... read more
Don't bring your pet here. My cat is dead and his death was preventable. I brought my cat here because he was not urinating in the litter box. Dr. Rahn said it was most likely due to a behavioral issue and left it at that. The next day my cat urinated blood. I called her and she said that most likely his bladder was inflamated and give me pain killers. I asked her if he should be tested and she didn't think it was necessary. Fast forward 3 weeks and now my cat is dead due to kidney stones. I can't believe I trusted the... read more
Dr. Schrader is great but the front desk and appointment people are totally incompetent. I have had problems caused by them twice. Today, I had an appointment at 10:00 but the person I made the appointment with put it into the system as 11:00. I had written it down and put it into my phone as I made the appointment. Then when I arrived today, the desk person looked at me like I was stupid for arriving 1 hour early and then ignored me. Second front desk problem. Never had these issues when I took my previous dog to Pender.
My family has been taking our Labradoodle to Suburban Animal Hospital for over 3 years. Today, we had a very poor experience. We made an appointment over 2 months ago to have a "teeth cleaning." We were told to drop our dog off between 7 and 9 am. I dropped my dog off at 7:50 am. I was then told my dog would be put under anesthesia and that I would receive a call in the morning with the status of her treatment and an update on when I could pick her up. I received no call all morning and into the early afternoon. I called... read more
