After 25 years, I am leaving Suburban Animal Hospital in Falls Church, VA. They have become more interested in the bottom line and corporate interests than animal welfare. They are over-priced and don't appreciate customer loyalty.

Business response:

Please accept our apologies for your experience. Your feedback is valuable to us. If you would like to discuss further, please contact the hospital to speak with the manager, Jennifer

Coming from a high quality vet, it was really disappointing this was the closest vet nearby. We have gone to this vet at least 3 times. We have a highly anxious dog that HATES the vet so when we make an appointment it's extremely important that we are exactly on time to minimize our animals discomfort. They would start appointments 10, 20, 30 minutes late with no explanation or apology. When we got our dog's nails cut which is $40 here, they didn't even cut her declaws and did a rough job on the other nails. There were other... read more

Business response:

We are very sorry you had such a disappointing visit. We work hard to ensure we are running as close to the appointment time as possible, but it the doctor is caught up in an urgent, or emergent situation, time can work against us. If you would like to discuss the visit with the Hospital Manager, Jennifer, please give me a call. We are happy you were able to come to a conclusion to what was causing the concern with your dog.

Since I can't respond to customer service, I'll add the following. There is no place around here that charges 40 dollars for a nail trim. Dudes down the street is 15. Also, 40 dollars for an ear wipe and then an additional what, 100 dollars for cytology? The wipe is needed to do the cytology so not sure why that is another 49 dollars on top of the lab work itself. Look, the vets here are great but you guys really run the bill up. Buyer beware.

Business response:

Please call the hospital and ask to speak with Jennifer the Hospital Manager, if you wish to talk further. thank you

Do not bring your animal here! The front desk is consistently rude, the vet's are incompetent and shouldn't be trusted to care for animals. The customer service is pretty much nonexistent. 0/10 do not recommend.

DO NOT SEE KELLY MCGRATH! I came in with my 12 year old lab for two reasons, a limp in her front right leg with a knot on her wrist and a upset stomach. Kelly did fully body x rays EXCEPT the leg. So we left with no answers. When I asked to have the X-ray done, they said I would have to pay additional money. Fast forward two months and I take my dog elsewhere for the x ray because her limp is not healing and it's bone cancer. Which over those two months has spread to her lungs and now it's untreatable. I cannot emphasize e... read more

After years of being with SAH, I will be taking my pups elsewhere. It is unfortunate, because we really loved Dr. Boyd. But the lack of respect, safety, quality of customer service and scheduling errors from the admin staff isn't worth returning. The customer service is non-existent; not as a result of the pandemic, but due to the staffing personalities and the lack of professionalism (I.e. Jennifer Ackerman, office manager). Additionally, SAH continues to increase their cost for services and medications when other practices... read more

Business response:

Jessica, we are truly sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us and appreciate you taking the time to chat in more detail. Our number one goal is to offer exceptional care, service, and professionalism. So, please know we take this feedback seriously.

I have been going to this "hospital" for over 10 years, and I have watched the service go downhill and the prices way uphill. A few years ago, after the practice was sold, we moved our general veterinary care to another facility. The new facility is one quarter to one third the cost of Suburban for the same level of service or better - and they don't try to sell you services that are just "nice to have". Some of the front desk staff have become rude and the last time we went there we had to wait in the hot sun for 15 minu... read more

We understand the potential inconveneice that COVID has placed on many of us, including businesses. We have made a very strong effort to keep our customers informed of our procedures through the pandemic, through social Media and posting on the premisis (front door). Any business needs to continually address their level of customer service they provide which we do, and will continue to do. Suburban has taken great strides, and pride, to continue to reevaluate our level of care and pricing so we can continue providing Gold st... read more

I had a terrible experience today at this office. I took my new puppy in to receive her last round of vaccinations, which were Distemper, Rabies, and Bordatella (which she didn't need, but I was talked into it), and the bill for a first visit was a whopping $400. She also had a fecal exam (usually done once for puppies and she had just had this done a week prior) and 4 dewormings by the breeder (as many as required for a puppy), and the vet did those yet again to basically charge more. After this, I took my puppy home and sh... read more

Beware. After many years of very good care at Suburban Animal Hospital I was astounded when I was refused care early Sunday morning when our dog who needed to see a veterinarian. I was told that they are all booked and unable to help me. As it happened years ago my dog needed care early Sunday morning during the days Dr. Snyder owned the practice and I was not turned away. They seemed to be only too happy to fit my dog in. When it is your pet that needs care a veterinarian who knows your pet should be there. Consequently we ... read more
