We live in the area and heard the rumors. In order to get the reservation we wanted, we booked a couple weeks out. We were greeted like old friends and escorted past the breathtaking bar and lounge to our white linen table. The experience was unforgettable. After almost three hours of fried risotto, butter lettuce salads, schnitzel, pacific sole, brown butter cake and the most stunning cocktails - we felt like family. The ambience was flawless, the place is perfectly restored and the staff are masters are their craft. The cr... read more
Small menu, but the food was very good and the service wonderful. Great cosmopolitans!
What can I say? The food was great, our server very attentive and the venue is gorgeous. What a throw back in time - you literally feel transported to another era. We cannot wait to go back!
The quality of food and service were excellent. The drink menu never ended and the atmosphere was relaxing. People dressed from suits to jeans. A little pricey....food sold ala carte. Great for a special occasion.
Being a lover of the Prohibition Era, I absolutely loved this place! Felt like stepping back in time to the days of F Scott Fitzgerald and Ma Barker. Make sure to get your passport....definitely a fun place and we will be back soon!
I was not impressed by the waldorf salad. I could have made the same thing at home. The chicken was excellent. The butter cake was dry- reminded me of a twinkie without the cream filling. The service was disappointing. I expected "fine dining" service. Did not notice the need for additional silverware - e.g. all of my silverware was removed after main course, and I did not receive a fork for my dessert. He ignored us after delivering our main course. He stopped refilling our coffee after giving us a second cup- perhaps he wa... read more
April 14th 2016 was the 65th Anniversary of our Wedding on April 14, 1951. Yes, it was a special dinner for us and we enjoyed the décor, atmosphere, service and food. It gave us an opportunity to remind us of some of the events we attended at the Commodore many years ago.
I loved the ambiance at The Commodore. Class and elegance of a century ago. Our visit started with excellent service at the door and that excellent service continued throughout the meal. I ordered the mahi mahi. It was delicious. I also enjoyed the cocktail I ordered and look forward to trying more from the unique list. The only hiccup was the lack of parking spaces. We parked about 1 1/2-2 blocks away (a Thursday night at 6:00). But it was completely worth it! I can't wait to go back!
We visited the Commodore for my wife's birthday, and were thoroughly charmed. We tried a couple of the toast appetizers, and both were amazing. For dinner, I had a steak and she had the sole - also very good. Our drinks were tasty (and subtly strong), and our server was attentive and nice throughout the evening. Will definitely return!
