Saw it in a review and was delighted with the food, great cocktails and service. Not inexpensive, but worth the price.
Food and service were excellent. The front/bar area has a really different (more lively, interesting) atmosphere than where we were seated. It felt a lot like a country club or a hotel restaurant in the dining area.
We went to the Commodore with two other couples. We had our wedding reception there in the '90s so wanted to see what it looked like. We were not disappointed, the old bar still looks like it did back in the '30s (and '90s). It is very cool. They added a new bar and sitting area near the entrance and that fits right in. The atmosphere in the dining room is nice and the food was terrific. Overall, couldn't have picked a better place to spend the evening with friends.
Food was excellent but we did not receive bread with our meal after noting other tables served bread - one server said it was usually offered with soup or salad which we had - our server said you have to request it - by this time our meal was over so a little disappointed that we were not served the bread
We ate at The Commodore the other night for a birthday celebration. It was our fourth full dinner there. The menu is unique and tasty. In all we have tried the rabbit, schnitzel, scaloppine, sole. All were excellent. The starters are equally enjoyable and cocktails are served in lovely vintage looking glasses. The only downside is the noise level. However the food makes up for this distraction!
The Commodore is worth visiting for the atmosphere and the food. Cocktails were interesting and tasty. Menu is limited but satisfying for a bite or complete meal. The service is attentive and I can't wait to return. Love, love the elegance of the era.
Restaurant was so charming. Our group was able to carry on a conversation because of the low level of noise. We tried 4 appetizers and everyone ordered something different for dinner and every item was delicious. I enjoyed the Fitzgerald and we had port after dinner. I felt like I was back in the 1920 night club.
This was my third visit and was very satisfied with the food each visit. The menu is varied and you can get a wonderful hamburger for a very reasonable price. The service is very friendly and efficient. You feel like you are in a private club in the late 1920s. The décor is exquisite and reminiscent of a time we wish was still here! The drink menu is great and the prices are also very affordable for the quality.
We had heard such praise for this restaurant but were very disappointed to be seated in a very large noisy room. People were literally yelling to people sitting across from them. Our waitress was very pleasant, the food ok, not great. The bar area looked fantastic and there were smaller, better decorated rooms for dining. I would only return for a drink or a guarantee that we could fine in a more quite, intimate location.
