I had a great experience with Better.com until I got to the closing team. The day before closing (9a appointment): 1. I call my closing rep asking if I can get a final balance so I know how much to wire as my bank takes time to process this. She says she'll get on it. 2. The process started out easy, but when it got to underwriting it got complicated, mainly because their underwriting department seems to be remarkably uneducated. A good example is when they asked for a copy of my tax return. I didn't have one, so I got an official transcript from the IRS. Underwriting wouldn't accept this, because they needed a copy of the tax return. I will NOT recommend this company to any one (my relatives or friends or even strangers) for many reasons. They follow: 1. When I started the refinance process I was told that they will reimburse the appraisal fee ($550) after the refinance was done. Obviously it did NOT happen, because they changed their mind. 2. Great experience up until the closing. Team is easy to reach by phone or email and resolved problems right away. Closing took 3 attempts because of wrong paperwork, but finally got resolved.
