I had a terrible experience with Better.com. The refinancing process was painful, they asked over and over for the same documents, took a very long time. They made the closing documents incorrect and had to reschedule the closing. In the end after the terrible experience I had through the process they did not pay the property taxes hold in escrow. Too lots of emails and phone calls and only after I told them is the last time I contact them and I will get a lawyer the problem was finally solved. Companies like this one should... read more

If you take cheats, thugs and morons then you reach a company called Better, they might want to rename worse, moron or just simple thiefs. Horrible application experience, after giving them all my information and getting a soft credit pull they kept on showing zero rates. As soon as I complained the agent hung up on me and then sent an email that we got disconnected. CHEATS CHEATS CHEATS THIEFS THEIFS THIEFS

Working with better.com is a horrible experience. They missed almost every due date and deadline during my closing process. They threatened to pull my loan 2 days before close because that is when underwriting finally got around to looking at my documents. They also do not know how to read purchase contracts as they updated my closing date about 15 days into escrow because they got confused and thought it should be 45 instead of 30. I had a good experience using Better for a Refinance before and decided to use them again for a new mortgage - BAD DECISION! My 2nd experience with them was horrible and almost caused me to lose my house. With only 10 days left to close, I had to switch lenders and lost hundreds of dollars in services already paid to Better.com. Disappointing experience. I started a refinance in March 2020, locked in at a decent rate. Their online user interface was impressive and everything was handled electronically so I was excited. Appraisal was done quickly then after that...the process stalled with underwriting for months, during which time the rate lock expired and was extended automatically but surprise! This company doesn't seem to be in the mortgage lending business. They kept asking the same questions over and over. Then they used the appraisal, which has at least 5 misrepresentations as an excuse to not fund refi. The excuse, change bars on landmark brownstone so that in addition to the 3 entrances on ground floor apartment, the gates on windows can be unlocked. Easy document processing and responsive employees, but very questionable honesty and integrity. Sadly, we were returning refinance customers that had a good experience our first time around, but we were mislead and nearly deceived as returning customers. We trusted Better Mortgage—perhaps too much--not anymore. We walked away from Better Mortgage just before closing due to their questionable practices.

Lowest rate I could find! Super easy and WAY FAST! They honored/matched a better rate quote and they refunded the $500 appraisal fee! HIGHLY recommend! (I posted a longer review on Trustpilot.com.)
