REAL ESTATE AGENTS BEWARE. I have been a full time real estate broker for many years. I have never experienced such horrendous communication, false promises and terrible attitudes from a lender. They expressly told us, when just asking for information they had failed to provide about a home appraisal, to let them do their job. They clearly have no concept of how to do their job. This company should change their name to Worst.com. By far the worst mortgage experience I’ve ever had. The process was filled with delay after delay, mistake after mistake, and repeated requests for information already provided. Also many times I would send emails asking for a status or ETA on an item and it felt as if the request for info went into a black hole. I would give a zero star rating if I could. We applied for a refinance with Better mortgage. At first, their communication was great and the process was easy....after we paid for our appraisal and were approaching our rate lock expiration our experience took a complete turn for the worst. I went through the whole process, spending money for a deposit,due diligence,survey,home inspection, and appraisal. At the last step I was refused a mortgage due income to debt ratio. I understand what that is and what it means. My main complaint was why I was not told earlier in the process before I paid out over $2,500! This should have come to light much earlier in the process. I would not recommend Better to anyone.

Not happy with the service we were provided or the process. We were promised multiple things and were not delivered upon. The rates that we locked in on kept going up daily due to delays on Better.com side of processing and they kept extending the rate "on our behalf" which they then kept rolling into the total amount of the loan. We were also told and verified multiple times that an appraisal would not be needed for our house yet were charged 500 dollars that they said we would get back. I sent a Loan Estimate to Better to see if they could beat the pricing based on the "Better Price Guarantee." They did beat the pricing, but then out of nowhere at 7pm the loan officer said that, "as a reminder," the offer was expiring at midnight. I didn't see that until the next morning, and I asked where that had been stated before and whether the pricing was still available. She didn't say where the midnight deadline came from. I shopped around for a mortgage company and every single one gave me the run-around. It literally was like that with all the others. The one that starts with *was the worst. I kept asking for a loan estimate and no one would give me one. It was around 5pm on like the 5th or 6th day of trying when I almost gave up but tried Better and after answering a few questions online, they immediately gave me a loan estimate and an amazing rate IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES.
