The first part of the process was good - rep. called Norah was very helpful and knowledgeable. After the pre-approval we had questions before locking in a rate and could even get the mortgage expert to call us back. We had a call appt. and they never called us. I contacted them explaining the situation requesting a new rep. We scheduled a new appt and did not get a call either. Do not recommend. Moving on to refinance our home with a different company.

I applied for a refi almost a month ago and have yet to have been given a rate... I called, emailed, have even gotten a reply last week from someone other than the account rep that I called and emailed but still no rate. All tasks were completed, I took a hard inquirie to credit score and I was told that I am pre-qualified so I don't understand what the hold up is about? We went through the online refi process, paid for an appraisal and then they smacked us with $36K in closing costs due at the table, no one ever called us to go through our options or provide alternatives. Then when I found a mortgage officer that did have any kind of personal customer service, Better refused to transfer my appraisal over (even though I had paid for it up front) and it took us a week to track them down to find out why not (and they just refused to do it w/o giving us a reason). The process was easy and smooth. I loved that they sent daily updates on the current rates so that i could make an educated decision on when to rate lock. From beginning to end, the process was smooth and easy.

Looking to refi with a credit score above 760 and income above 150K. Preliminary offer was for 30 yr. fixed @ 3% (APR 3.18%) and no direct costs. After making the application, this rate requires payment of 2 points, just over $6000. Feels like bait and switch to me. What do you think?

Have to admit I was skeptical at first, but the big banks wouldn't do a cash out refi at the time (pandemic) so I went with Better.com for the good rates and mostly good reviews. I was surprised at how smooth the process went. As long as you respond quickly and send the documents they are requesting, the process moves along without delay. The people I dealt with were very responsive and answered any questions I had very quickly. For my refi, the whole process from rate lock to closing only took 15 days! Refinancing through Better.com was incredibly easy. We had the added incentive of a promotion through American Express, but I researched the company and saw it had high reviews and went for it. We got an excellent rate and had no problems, start to finish. And this was during the height of the COVID-19 shutdown. The internet at its best.
