I give the vet's and vet assistants 5 stars. They are great. The admin staff? Zero stars. They never answer the phone. And on the rare occasion they do answer, they could not care less if they tried. It's so frustrating trying to talk to them. Particularly in an urgent situation. They caused me extreme duress when one of my pups was suffering and needed end of life care. We recently had to part ways with our vet of a decade as they were bought by a large corporation and we started encountering a lot of quality and honesty issues. It's intimidating to find a new vet when you have senior dogs, but we ended up at Caring Hands and have been impressed so far. Caring Hands with Dr. Caroline Schmelter has been incredible since we adopted our little Bean in March. Bean is an older cat with some issues and is nervous being poked for labs/vaccines or having her head examined. Dr. Schmelter and each veterinary technician who has cared for Bean does so with such grace and compassion. Each individual at the front desk is equally as caring as the aforementioned team. I have been to 3 different vets/clinics since adopting my cat James Bond. It is true 3rd time is the charm. At Caring Hands Alexandria. All of the staff were super sweet and kind, very prompt with timing, even though we were a little late. The vet spent so much time with us talking about our kitties and genuinely cared. 2023: I still only take my dogs to Caring Hands. I've visited multiple of their locations and they are all great. Van Dorn is where I started and where I always go as a first option. The staff were great through the trying time of COVID-19 and always show empathy towards the pets and people who come through their doors. They also are great at listening and make sure you are aware of cost options for services. I've been in the area for about two years now and never moved my pups vet. However, after he got sick I needed a vet that had good reviews and close to home. It was very hard to book a last minute appointment, but this Caring Hands location had one cancellation that I was able to book. Due to my pup being sick, upon arrival I called to check-in. Outstanding care for my senior rescue Trixie and outstanding customer service for me. Being in the veterinary field these days is very tough.
