Plug and play If you have wifi, it takes maybe 6 minutes to connect and be printing. I actually was surprised at how easy it was. Most of this stuff requires studying manuals, going to internet, screwing with your computer settings. Not this one. II have always bought Brother and they very simply just work
Poor toner cartridge life We bought this printer in July to replace a 4 year old ink jet printer that had served us well, but stopped printing. All recommendations pointed to a laser printer for much better service with toner cartridges, particularly. The "starter" set of cartridges that came with this Bother machine lasted less than 2 weeks. WILL ALL OF SUDDEN NOT WORK AND NO WAY TO REINSTALL DRIVERS - DO NOT BUY THIS - REPEAT HUNK OF JUNK After all these years. Brother still has issue wish a SIMPLE DRIVER . It will work for a month or so - but THEN ALL OF SUDDEN DRIVER IS FAULTY, AND YOU WILL SPEND WEEKS TO MONTHS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER - WARNING
Leaves streaks on color prints. I bought this printer because it could supposedly print on 80 lb paper. It will print it but it leaves streaks and pressure marks on color prints. I used the correct supported paper (several actually). Prints fine on regular paper but then so does every other printer. Very disappointing.
Wayyyy Toooo Slowwww Have had this printer for one year to the day. (Purchased 9/30/2018.) This must be my 6th or 7th Brother printer (at least) so generally am a fan. But just logged into Amazon to look for an alternative because I just cannot deal with how slow this printer is. (Then decided to write this review to let others know.) Situation is no different even if I use the cable and not the WiFi.
Printer won't power up, less than two years old, POS. Had good luck with black and white Brother printers, so spent $350 on this color laser printer. Happy as a clam for the first 18 months, now it will not even power on. Went online for a fix - appears to be a common problem among various Brother printers. The online fix of unplugging the AC, holding down the power button, plugging back in - blah blah blah did not work for this unit. VERY disappointed, will not buy Brother anything again.
Would not recommend. After years of HP printer use tried Brother. Easy initial set up and easy to print to... BUT HORRIBLE quality. After hours with brother support they concluded a bad black toner. It was replaced but ALL graphic prints have issues. Odd border around pictures, odd lines around objects. At this point only good for black and white text.
Worst printer I have ever owned! Don't buy a Brother!!! This printer worked fine until I needed to put a replacement cartridge in. Then it stopped working. Brother says the drum is defective. They promised me a new in 2-3 business days on the phone. Then sent an email stated in will be 4 weeks because the drums are out of stock. That is probably due to Brother flooding the market with defective product. It doesn't matter how good or economical a printer is if it doesn't work. DO NOT BUY!!! Can't buy another Brother I purchased this printer with an optional tray in May 2018. It was the 2nd identical Brother printer I purchased within the last 3 years. After about one year, The first Brother printer I purchased needed several replacement parts, excluding toner. The parts were ranging in price from $70 on up. I purchased the first part and then the 2nd part. I installed both parts. Then one of the trays became misaligned and the printer didn't work properly after that.
