Printed one page and it stopped working Going through the printer and pulling out all the extra packing pieces wasn't easy because instructions and images were not comprehensive or clear. The toner tray and another piece under it had to be pulled out to remove a piece of protective packaging. There's a special trick to turning a latch by the toner tray that is not described anywhere, but you can't get the toner tray back in without knowing the trick. Not worth the money All I want is a simple home printer that works on wireless. This printer has not been reliable. It prints some documents but not others, continuously knocks off the WiFi and then when I try to reconnect it’s “busy”.
Incredibly Slow to Print I bought this printer because of the advertised speeds of up to 33ppm, even in color! Plus, the price of the ink is very economical compared to others in this category/price-range. Unfortunately, I had to return it because the print speeds were no where near the advertised ones. In particular, the printer would print the first page within 3-5 seconds. But, then, there'd be about a 7-10 second pause to process data before printing anymore pages. Poor connectivity performance I have tried to work with this printer for almost 2 1/2 years and it is the most unreliable wireless printer I've ever owned. It only connects inconsistently, seems to have a mind of its own. I can never predict, folliwing the exact same protocol, whether or not on a particular day it will connect with my phone or computer and print. First Brother I've owned--going to junk it and buy a cheaper HP with better connectivity. This printer is way over priced for a tempermental piece of equipment.
Printer lasted less than 1-year The printer was great until it wasn't. It started giving error messages and would only print on occasion. Tech support could not solve the issue and instructed me to take the printer to a service center. The nearest service center is almost 200 miles away so that was a no go. All this happened within the 1-year warranty period (by about 1 week) but if the ultimate warranty solution is ship or drive it off to a service center, then it's not worth the trouble. Looks like I just got a defective unit With less than 50 pages printed the unit started producing pages that were faded on the left side. After troubleshooting with Brother for hours along with lots of internet research (looks like this issue is common) I was informed that the problem was with the cartridges that shipped with the printer. I was also informed these cartridges have a 90 day warranty which we were just outside of and new ones would have to be purchased. Very bad photo quality Does fine on printed material, but the photos are blurry and indistinct, of such poor quality they cannot be used.
Not so good Text prints fine. Pictures and graphics are blurry. Driver update didn’t help. Printed a QR code for a movie, looked blurry, scanner at the theater couldn’t read it. Looking to return the printer.
Did not perform to expectations or last a year. Disappointed. Unreliable network printer. No other devices on wireless network had problems except this printer. Print rate was slow even with extra memory. Will print from USB flash drive. If my son needed to quickly print a report before leaving for school, this printer always disappointed.
