Decent Color Laser Printer. Not for Photos. Price is a plus. I needed a laser printer because all the ink printers I've owned so far are unreliable. I have wasted so much money and ink because of problems, so I decide to get a color laser. Color are not that great but good enough to pass for business documents. Uses only Brother toner cartridges This printer works fine until it runs out of toner. When it did, I tried two highly ranked third-party toner cartridge packages from Amazon, and both failed. The printer would not recognize the yellow replacement cartridge as being full. Toner reset did not fix the issue. My conclusion is that only Brother cartridges will work, and I consider their prices to be exorbitant. I returned the printer. So, don't buy this printer unless you are willing to commit to high prices for consumables.
DONT BUY! I bought this printer for business. Needed asap. Out of the box it printed grey background. Called Brother support. After 2 hours they said black toner was defective. Could send a replacement in 3 - 5 business days. I need NOW. I returned printer and had another shipped. New printer arrived. Unpacked, set up. Same problem. Called Brother and they are saying the SAME thing! SO that is two separate printers, brand new, printed with grey background and Brother support could not help. Absolutely TERRIBLE support I needed a new printer and this Brother laser looked like it fit the bill perfectly. When I received it however, the test prints had wide gray striping. No problem, I went into Brother's web portal for help and left a detailed description of the problem as well as uploading a scanned image of a test print. Curls Paper Like Crazy Purchased this printer because I wanted a solid color laser printer that could produce photo like prints. It does that perfectly fine. Problem is, it curls thicker paper like crazy. Like, it u-bends thick paper. I should have listed to the other reviews about the envelopes curling. I'm disappointed in my purchase and I kinda want to send the printer back. Yes, there's an option to "reduce paper curl" in the printer settings. It takes too long to start printing and sometimes it does not print at all. We bought the wireless version of this printer because it made sense for our office. It takes for ever to start printing and I have not idea how to correct this after hours of investigation. Also, sometimes the printer does not print at all. Hopefully I will fix these problems when I have time.
Caution when buying printer This printer worked beautifully for about a month and now I am getting an error that there is no paper in the tray (paper tray is full) or I am getting an error that there is a paper jam when it is clear. I have turned it on and off but nothing seems to be helping
BLACK BANDS ON COPIES Right out of the box it is putting black bands about an inch wide all the way down every page. I have run a number of pages through it thinking it might be from shipping, but no difference. The color is OK for a laser. but the bands make it unusable for business.
Poor Quality This machine print quality is Poor. Drum roller needs to be replaced after very low page count. Do not purchase this machine if your looking for a good quality color printer.
