    WISH I COULD RATE ZERO STARS!! piece of crap. purchased for wireless printing capabilities. stopped printing from iphone after 1 use & stopped printing from android after 3 uses. kept getting error message: "cant find printer" or "printer unavailable". this happened also when trying to install printer to PC using brother software. best buy sucks also. most stores are extending their warranty to 60 or 90 days due to pandemic. 14 day warranty from best buy? this sucks they don't guarantee what they sell? not shopping here ever... read more

    Frustrating, would not recommend This is my second Brother printer as I thought it got better over time. No way. Printer works. Sort of. It eats ink like crazy. It does not print as many pages ith one cartridge as it claims. Speed is not as advertised either. You cannot print only black and white if any of the other cartridges is not full. The worst thing may be frustration with scanner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it says to connect scanner without changing anything in between. Then, a few days later, it works again.     Underwhelming but needed it during Covid Terrible. The faxing and copying capabilities are dated.I feel like I’m doing double work for simple tasks.

    Brother MFC-J497DW Liked design, but would not function. Returned for full refund. Worked (chatted) with Brother on (2) occasions for over one hour each and unable to solve problems.

    Works when it wants This printer is not user friendly to me at all... it’s always offline for some reason...

    Crap Bought it in Jan 2020 doesn’t work anymore it’s only been 5 months

    Terrible Printer My family bought this printer a few weeks ago, and I used it maybe four times and now it won't printer. The printer keeps getting jammed for no reason and then after I remove the paper jam that the pick-up roller needs to be cleaned. On top of all that it keeps destroying all the paper I put in it so even when I can get it to print the paper comes out crumpled up and the print job is side ways and half of its not there. This is the worst printer I have ever seen DO NOT BUY IT!

    junk do not buy this thing this thing will give you gray hair. hard to set up,no tech support,etc. i have to get a new printer. I am 70 years old and i use it small things and this junk would not let me do that without fighting it.

    Don't get this machine Print quality is okay, but this machine can only print 10-20 pages before needing a new black ink cartridge. I've had older brother machines (which I regret not having kept) where the ink cartridges lasted for months. On this model, expect to need new black cartridges every two or three weeks, and that's WITH low volumes of printing. You can do better than this machine, I'm sure.
