Blue backround There was a blue background on everything that a was either scanner or copied. This is an ongoing issue. Brother is impossible to reach on tech support and most of the responses on searches were for other types of printers. Sent it back and has to pay for shipping for a defective printers. Amazon helped me out however :).
A PITA of a Wireless Printer This review is made 18 months after purchase with infrequent use. Constant wireless connection issues, almost exclusively on the printer's part (or printer software/firmware) and not of the PC. Sometimes a full machine reset would get it working. Since the machine doesn't come with a USB cable, had to dig into the abyss that is the leftover cables supply for the perfect fit. Breaks easy Had this printer for less than months and it broke on me. Now we have to buy another one. We print a lot and it's poor quality.
Good Until You Need It Most. First and Last Brother Product I Will Ever Buy So it is decent looking, fairly easy to set up, it prints decently. I thought my old Canon did photos a little better but not bad. It's just that you buy a printer to print. And sometimes you may run low or run out of a color ink cartridge at a bad time. It happens. It's a scam This is a scam. Despite my cartridges having PLENTY OF INK TO PRINT, the manufactures put in place a microchip system that stops printing functions of all ink colors if just one singular toner is what they deem to be low. It won't even let me scan images on the computer because of the damn ink issue. My local stores often don't even carry replacements, so I have to wait forever on ink to ship just to have my printer do it's job. Year old and useless This is a home printer that might have 3 hours total use. First it squawked about the scanner, which was never used. Then every time you try to uses it, the screen says "turn off and turn on" and no result. Now it cannot be detected by Windows. Tech help? The Brother web site is constructed of a hundred hoops to jump through and is useless. I'm so sick of Chinese built printers that are built to sell ink instead of functioning.
Just get a black-and-white printer only. Why can’t print black-and-white without relying on yellow and blue and red. After only a few dozen dozen pages it won’t print anything because there’s no more yellow not even in black-and-white.
INK Cartridges are sold on amazon extremely expensive and run out really quick. The black cartridge still has ink inside, when shook you can feel clearly that there is about 20% ink inside but the printer says its not enough. The black cartridge its about $55 dollars on amazon and the options are not very clear. Yes printer is cheap and good quality but where they make the real money its on the ink.
