Problems staying connected to computer - Multiple updates - Expired warranty - I'm stuck Bought this printer to use in my small office. Wireless connection initially worked great. After about two months, it was always "offline" when I needed to print. Tried turning computer and printer off and then back on. This worked sometimes, but not every time. Now, after having the printer three months, it won't connect at all. Very disappointed with this printer. All it's good for right now is to make copies. What a shame!
Ink cost is terrible The ink runs out every 20 copies. Very disappointed. I am in the 3 black cartridge after 2 months and we only use it to print the kids homework.
Needed service after 1 month plus a few days... When it worked print quality was poor. Also if connected via wireless it would drop and become unavailable all the time... There was nothing wrong with my wireless network. Connected it via a wired connection and this problem went away. Needed service after 1 month plus a few days because I kept getting "Unable to print 50" error... This problem occurred just a week after returns expired so it could not be Returned via Amazon... Tech support seems helpful.... Lets see...
No Viable Customer Support 3 month old, barely used and screen locked up as well as not being able to turn off machine without unplugging it from outlet. Additionally, customer support has no solution except to return it to seller and Costco does not take returns for printers beyond 30 days.
Ink-Gulcher Let me count the ways in which I hate this printer. Cheap construction (printed page holder) falls off, cannot get it back on; most of all, it gulps down ink at an astonishing rate. It will not use a compatible cartridge (may use it at first, prints maybe 20 pages, then won't print at all) AND does not say why it stopped printing, it's a game of "Guess that issue". I have spent the cost of this printer 10 times over in the 15 months I've had it. Hate, hate, hate it.
Not reliable enough to work 1-3 times a year. Constant issues with recognizing ink cartridges and their fullness. After troubleshooting it a lot I think it is the ID chip that breaks or the nozzle inside does not fill with ink correctly. The cartridges are fine mechanically and ink will come out if you depress the valve in them. REFUSES TO PRINT IN BLACK AND WHITE OR UPDATE FIRMWARE when it thinks it has a low color ink cartridge.... I am so tired of terrible consumer designed printers.
Have purchased several Brother printers this in a bad one! Had an emergency and needed to scan several manuals, the scanner goes of line randomly and crash/freezes the scan application, printer does the same thing, have to fiddle with the menus, go to app menu, like force it to get connected, for it to wake on the network. Have 20 wifi devices at home, none have issues. Also have like 10 brother printers at work, they have been somewhat reliable, at least more than other brands. very disappointing
The worst printer ever If you are looking for duplex printing, avoid printer, always having jam issues. Very bad experience with brother brand after more than 14 years of using brother products.
Print quality leaves a lot to be desired. I bought this printer to replace a HP printer that no longer recognized the photo paper tray. After printing several photo's and being less than satisfied with their quality I now send my print requests to Walmart. Bottom line; you get what you pay for.
