If I could give this gym no stars I could. I go to the Val vista location but I moved closer to this one on Alma school so I decided to try it out for the first time. For One the front desk staff is not friendly they were chatting with some other person and weren't paying attention to me. Finally they saw me, didn't greet me just grabbed my keys to scan it while still talking to the same person. Back after a 15 month hiatus to LA Fitness. This location has changed. Apparently they renovated a few months after I left. They reduced the basketball court and created a CrossFit area. I don't use that but it looks nice. No new equipment. Just rearranged a bit. And they kept a machine that is becoming very rare. A standing deltoid raise. This gym doesn't have the chain feel, it feels like a neighborhood gym. And for the most part it's clean.

I joined over here a couple months ago and I'm really liking it so far! This plac has everything I need and they have towels! :) they even have tanning and a sauna and steam room which is cool. I like all the slam balls and polymetric type of stuff they have too. I'd I had to say anything, the wiFi could be better and I wish the spin bikes had some sort of digital screen to see Rpms. Probably one of the worst gyms I've been with in awhile. The child care now ask the guests to sign their kids in on an iPad which isn't a big deal until it asks question after question and the staff ends up helping everyone anyway. The basketballs for their half court are shit. I mean spend a couple hundred and get new balls. Came here for a 5 day trial as this gym is less than a mile from my house, but overall I didn't feel the value was there. I'd heard that Mountainside was a pretty good gym, and they have a couple heavy bags and speed bags that I was interested in using, in addition to the usual weights and machines. I found the machines to be pretty old and worn, and the free weight area was relatively small. Mountainside is the BEST gym I have ever been a member of! Granted, you can probably find a cheaper option month-to-month at another gym, but I believe you're getting what you pay for and then some here. I have attended The Chandler location most, but have had the same pleasant experience in Ahwatukee and Gilbert. My favorite part is the amazing childcare. I give this rating only for Membership Fees. I have been a faithful member for 12 years. This year upon renewal, I went in to discuss matching fees from other gyms. I was instantly told there would be no matching of competitors. At which point I stated that I could join 3 to 4 other gyms for the current Mountainside monthly fee. Still no compensation. I have been paying for a membership since about September of last year. I did everything for my membership over the phone. My payment was collected and the lady who signed my up said that I would get a discounted rate because they were running a free childcare special through the end of the year. So I will only be paying for me and my husband for the first few months and then will start paying for the full family membership in January.
