I am new to the area. I brought Gus for a check up and updated shots. Dr. Nagy is extremely attentive and genuinely cares for her patients. The assistant vet techs are great as well. I was very pleased. Which is why I am writing a yelp review.... Gus was attacked by a pit bull at the park. Luckily he is a muscular little guy and escaped with the help of a few awesome bystanders. I weighed my decision to visit NVC over other vets highly recommended by friends who are long term pet owners based off the reviews I read here. I had my reservations. The office staff is very attentive and pleasant both in person and over the phone - Dawn and Venus answered my many questions to my satisfaction. A friend recommended this place when I found a worm in my cat's stool. So I took my cat and the staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The technicians and veterinarian were most compassionate and put my cat at ease. Even as she tried to get off the table, they were still gentle. The vet was informative and did not try to sell me on any unnecessary treatments. Thanks NVC!
My dog began to show limited signs of mobility yesterday evening and avoided climbing on/off the couch and bed. When she cried out in pain walking up and down the apartment steps, I knew it was time to call a vet. My Husband and I have been taking our pets to NVC for a few years now. Their staff is wonderful and we have every reason to believe Dr. Leiman is passionate about what he does and only wants to provide the best possible care. To the previous poster who suspected "upselling", I would bet dollars to doughnuts you feel that way because you are price-sensitive. So I brought my 9 weeks old French Bulldog to this place for examination. The appointment I made was at 3:30pm, but I arrived 10 minuets late. However, I still pretty much got to see the vet almost immediately after filling out the information about my dog and I. The exam I order is a general wellness exam. After going to the Humane Society of New York for a few years, I was tired of the trek and needed to find a vet in the neighborhood. I took the chance to take my new 8 week old kitten here for her first check up and shots and was so thrilled with the whole experience. It's only 15 minutes by bus from my house, the staff is very friendly, the price for a visit $60 is insanely cheap for NY and $45 for a follow up-- and Dr Eisner is the most caring, love and friendly woman. I highly recommend Dr Leiman. I moved to Brooklyn five years ago with a 13-year-old dog and felt nervous about finding a good vet. I'm so glad that I found Dr Leiman. He cared for my elderly poodle up through his last years with kindness, empathy, and expertise. I couldn't have asked for more.
