After the sale of a property that was financed with Pennymac, per their customer service agents and “managers”, that due to their processes and procedures, I am now left without the return of my escrow and unused mortgage insurance. Further, I've spent countless hours on the phone with them, only to hear “sorry, I am unable to help you.

POOR customer service! After submitting my payment, it was confirmed, and somehow didnt process. Called to speak with a live person to dispute the error considering it dropped my credit score drastically. The gal that answered didn’t speak English and was driving in another country. She refused to connect me to management! She then pretended to not be able to hear me. Absolutely ridiculous!! Another negative is that online account access hasn’t functioned in a year and still doesn’t work!!

PennyMac is the absolute worst. I have bought 3 houses with 3 different mortgage companies and I have NEVER worked with a company as incompetent as PennyMac. Due to assuming a loan I had to work with PennyMac through their assumption dept. The experience started off with receiving an email from their loan processor that would be collecting all needed information and processing the loan assumption. I was informed that this process would take approximately 60 days. After 45 days of hearing nothing, despite multiple emails and voice messages from myself and my realtor, we both started calling any number we could find to get a hold of someone. Almost no one ever answers at PennyMac. A week out from our expected close date we finally got someone to answer a call and found out the person assigned to our loan had done nothing. So our loan process would take at least another 60 days. We had planned our move around the original 60 days with a 2 week buffer. PennyMac refused to do anything to help us and ended up passing us off between multiple other contacts (none of which ever updated us on status, picked up a phone or returned emails). It ended up taking over 90 days additional from the original expected close date to finally get to a close. This cost my family over $10,000 as we had to find temporary housing, storage and placing for our pets. PennyMac refused to address this after repeatedly admitting it was their fault. There reasoning is they "were not going to make any additional money" on the loan. Since being in the loan, 4 months, I have been fighting with PennyMac on "lapsed insurance" from before I owned the property. PennyMac confirms my official close date on the property was in November but then continues to charge me for not having insurance in Sept and Oct. The most incompetent company and people I have ever had to deal with. Beware this company as they have no integrity and do not value their clients in the least.

Penny mac makes it almost impossible to make bimonthly payments. It has to be paid 2 months in advance, and you cant make any other payments towards the principal or else the entire loan will be called due. Not only is their website cumbersome but the call center is almost worthless.

When someone says “stop calling me” that should end the conversation. There should be no questions after I say it’s not a good time. A polite apology and goodbye is all that should be said. There is no need for Pennymac to call me three times a week asking me if I want to refinance my loan. It’s madness. Tell your cold callers to accept no for an answer or I’m taking my money and all the interest you might get to another lender.
