We have been really happy with Brooklyn Cares. The whole staff obviously loves animals and makes our visits go smoothly. They've taken great care of our dog and cat ever since we've been going there (about 2 years or so). I know some other reviewers complained about prices, and it's true that it's not cheap, but good, personalized care doesn't come cheap, especially in New York City (for humans either, for that matter!). I took my dog on Sunday. It was an emergency case they took him right away. Ran test, gave me the blood test result in 20 minutes. The urine test the doctor called me the next day and told me it was good. The staff called the next day after my emergency visit to find out how he was doing. The place is on the money. If you are not happy don't go there. But making bad complaints is crazy. They are outstanding. The best part they made me feel comfortable as a new owner of a dog 6 years old.

We were seen quickly and the staff were all friendly including the vet. After performing the test that I agreed to do she came and spoke with me. I'm not really familiar with standard charges but it did seem expensive, which is why I gave 4/5 stars. I didn't agree to all tests just the ones I felt were necessary at that point and there was no pressure to have the rest done, it was still pretty expensive. It's no exaggeration to say this group has saved our cat's life 3 or 4 times. Dr. Mann (who we miss but everyone else is amazing, too) came in at 6:30 IN THE MORNING to perform a procedure on Dexter. When our other cat passed, they were kind, sensitive and pragmatic. Whenever we've needed short notice appointments they were flexible, and now being first time dog owners, they are so patient with our dumb/weird neuroses. They have been transparent with prices and always worked with us. What an amazing, compassionate team.
I have been going to Brooklyn Cares for about 2 years since we moved into the neighborhood. I choose this place specifically for the location since we are around the corner. A few things: 1) LOVE their front staff, very accommodating super friendly and nice 2) NOT a big fan of Dr. Mann. We have seen Dr. Mann for the past 2 years and thankfully he left the practice. I had a good experience here. It was our first vet visit together (me and the cat) and it went very smoothly. Everyone was really helpful and transparent about what was being done and what the options were for my cat's care.
We just took our two dogs here for their yearly check ups and vaccinations and the entire staff was amazing. Our vet was so friendly and she even agreed to give the vaccines in the exam room so I could stay with them during their shots. The receptionist was SUPER helpful and so friendly as well. We've had a few bad experiences in Brooklyn with some other places and I'm so glad to be able to call this amazing group our full time vet.
As good as it gets indeed! I called to inquire about a home visit because I have a dog that is not dog-friendly. He can get growly if kept from another dog. It's really only barrier aggression since he's fine with most other dogs when he's off-leash, but a vet waiting room can be a nightmare for us. They were able to have us head straight to a room upon my arrival. They also scheduled me for a time when there were only crated cats in the waiting room. Very nice attention to detail.
