I'm an international exchange student lives in Fairfield. I came to Edge fitness club last august because i simply wanted a place to work out and they have a relatively cheap price. I remembered i asked for a only 3 month membership when one of their staff is helping me register as a new member. Maybe its because my english is not good enough to express myself clearly or maybe she just did it intentionally, i payed for a 3 month membership but the membership will continue after the first 3 month without an end date. Well its... read more

Fradulant charges continue! I spoke with the manager of the manchester club a few weeks ago and he ASSURED me the charges for personal training would be stopped after the LAST charge we questioned - the paperwork is extremely misleading - it says you are signing up for four training sessions, which we approved of, but it is very vague and suddenly we found out it is a recurring monthly charge!! another $257 was just charged to my account this morning even after I agreed with the manager LAST month that I would NOT fight t... read more

I recently had an accident at the trumbull fitness gym. Machine was out of order with no sign on it. I was bleeding under my chin and on knees. Members came to my assistance. One member walked me downstairs to get assistance. One trainer was in her office. (she said she was a trainer for more than 10 years at another gym). I told her I was hurt and needed ice. She brought me to the smoothie counter where one other trainer was busy making smoothies. She gave me a baggie of ice cubes and sent me on my way. I was a lit... read more

It is really hard to cancel your membership. My wife and I got military orders to PCS to another state. I couldn't cancel at the gym, and they refer me to a financial company. That's funny how you can sign up there, but can't cancel there. I contacted them, they sent me a confirmation. The automatic billing for the final payment didn't process, and my contact information didn't work because I had just moved. So they actually kept the account open, kept accruing dues and fees, and sent my account to collections, who is now th... read more

While this is a nice gym and all the ridiculous hoops they make you jump through to quit are really unnecessary. It should be the customers choice as to when and why they want to cancel their membership, the only "allowed" reasons to cancel the membership are if you move too far away from an edge club or if you have a permanent medical condition and you need official paperwork to prove both situations. This just isn't right. They are many life events that happen to people that they should not have to deal with this pain in t... read more

UPDATE: After posting this review, I received a response through the Better Business Bureau from The Edge and the matter has been closed. While I will not be returning as a member, the quick turnaround from this escalation is much appreciated. After being sold on a plan where I can cancel with 30 days notice, and going through the contract with the person who sold it to me on that day, I am now being told I can't cancel. ABC Financial agreed that based on how they were told to explain the plans, and what was written on m... read more

Great facility great equipment and friendly staff .... BUT, in the last year or so they have been recruiting members at breakneck speed causing overcrowding, frequent damage to machines, and people driving for 15 minutes to try (key word) to find parking. If your looking for a quick in and out and want to spend more time working out and less time waiting for machines, visit in off hours if possible or join a different gym.

Don't bother. No matter what time of day it is, you CANNOT get a parking spot or machine once you are inside. I just went at 7:15 pm and I circled their giant parking lot three times and couldn't find a spot. Cars are lined up on the side street and behind the building. It's ridiculous and I'm fed up. Managers and corporate don't seem to care. A paying customer who can't even get into the gym...

It's a big gym so you need to accept certain things. A. The staff are going to be socially inept turds to anyone but their friends. B. It's going to be crowded to the point of being unusable during peak times. C. The cancellation policy is going to be borderline illegal. D. No one is going to have a molecule of gym etiquette. But of course, E. it's actually a pretty good gym when it's all said and done. All of these things are true about the Fairfield Edge. They made me go home and get my membership agreement twice because... read more
