We rented a 12 passenger van for a family trip to Maui with 12 people. we made the rental six months in advance. We arrived at the rental facility to be told they did not have a 12 person van for us. We had called the day before to verify our reservation and were told there was no problem. But the day we needed to pick it up, there suddenly was a problem. I rented in advance online and had a really positive experience - I had pre-paid so was aware the rental company was outside the airport- a 5 minute shuttle ride away (at the taxi rank) - conveniently the location was next to Costco so it was ideal when it came to refilling my car with gas prior to returning it. I like the car, and very friendly service desk representatives. But I chose the dealer’s choice option, expecting to receive the cheapest sedan. However, I was given a minivan instead and had to pay for an upgrade to get a regular sedan, along with a late reservation fee (plus basic or full insurance of our choice). I was hoping for a lower price, but in the end, I ended up paying more compared to other rental companies.
Complete ripoff! Payed 188$ in advance for the rent. When picking up the car I was forced to pay another 300$ for insurance which was not transparent beforehand when booking. Side mirrors and rear window completely filthy and dirty
RENTERS BEWARE! I will never rent here again. You will be asked to upgrade because the size you reserved are all damaged. Since you have not been offered a choice, you have to sign a waiver (after 15 hours on planes and time changes) you get a vehicle they do have. They can't fix the charges because your ticket is "closed"; funny, I work with ticket systems as a network analyst and, you can fix whatever to help your customer.
