Our recent car rental experience with Ace in Maui was a tale of two extremes—frustrating upon pickup and surprisingly smooth upon return. When we arrived at the airport, we were surprised to learn that Ace's rental lot was off-site, requiring a shuttle ride. My family recommended Ace and I reserved a Sedan for a great price. We were picked up right away from the airport. When we got there they were out.. The person behind the counter explained that unfortunately Online companies sometime overbook. They had a Mini Van and didn’t think I would like it. Loved it!! It was in excellent condition, brand new, very easy to drive and had all the electronic extras. Wonderful experience and rates that no one on island can match. I booked a Dealers Choice and ended up with an awesome mini van! Alex the manager is helpful and accomoditating. Staff is friendly and easy airport pick up and drop off included. :). Best car co on Maui!
We booked and paid online for what we thought was a good deal. The invoice even said “total price includes all mandatory taxes and fees” so we thought we were good to go. Wrong. We got there to pick up the car and they charged us a “mandatory” liability fee among other fees making out total THREE TIMES as much as the original amount. They are SCAMMING you. This is a scam. They promise one price (lower than elsewhere) which we paid in advance. Then they try to upsell you and if you don’t, they say they don’t have the car you reserved only much more expensive ones. It is a dog and pony show with them pretending to look for the car and not finding it. We were scammed by Jacques. Avoid!
