I was diagnosed with idiopathy dilated cardiomyopathy in July 1998 and survived sudden cardiac death in September 1998. I was on the heart transplant list at Evanston Hospital until they shut down the program and I had to find another list in the Chicago area. Happily I found Dr. Heroux. Initially he made a big impact on my recovery by increasing the dosage of one of my meds. After a few years I was taken off the transplant list. I am now 72 years old and living a good and active life.
