"Go ahead and call me Homer Simpson with a crayon in my brain but I believe certain electronic purchases just need extended warranty. I have purchased SquareTrade warranties for LCD TV's, coffee makers, laptops, etc. The first claim I ever had to file was on 10/01/2010 for a coffee maker that broke. "I was very satisfied with how Square Trade handled my claim. After my PS3 had failed for the second time Square trade indicated that instead of repairing the item a second time they indicated that they would pay for a new unit. I was totally surprised and please with their decision. I have 5 different contracts with square trade and I plan to continue to have warranties with them for all of my electronics."
