The building was built in 1911 by François Espinasse as the headquarters of the tire firm in London. In 1987 the building became a mixed-use building, with offices, a restaurant and stores. It is a Grade II listed building. Its construction period coincides with the end of Art-Nouveau and the incipient Art Deco. The building was important because it was one of the first to use concrete as a structural system.
