Got the #1 (dac biet) and #4 (tofu) banh mi for $21 even if paying by cash/Venmo. Came on hot, fresh, super crunchy baguettes with generous helpings of pickled carrot and radish. Also generous portions of tofu. No seating area inside, so we enjoyed our sandwiches across the street at the Muni bus stop. Next time if it’s an option, I’d opt for less hoisin and more pate. Fast and good quality—would go again.
They list our every ingredient on the menu but fail to mention that their fish cake banh mi has meat in it in the form of pate. They don’t even mention pate in the list of ingredients. If they didn’t list the ingredients, of course I would ask as the one with a dietary restriction. But they listed every ingredient including “egg butter”, and failed to mention the meat in their fish sandwich. Really disappointed! When I called they said “sorry”. Easily unnoticed, hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese deli serving made-to-order banh mi, ready-to-go rice paper rolls, and drip coffee. Perfect for food enthusiasts seeking more savory breakfast options. Beef Banh Mi, wonderfully fragrant from lemongrass while pickled vegetables cut perfectly through the richness of pate. Well-toasted French Roll, airy but crisp. Shrimp Spring Roll, an excellently refreshing deal at $6.
This is an excellent eatery. It's also one of the most affordable meals around! Wonderful vietnamese food, made with love, and served quickly. I feel so fortunate to discover this affordable, delectable, and unique restaurant in my neighborhood.
I ordered a fishcake banh mi and it was very sweet, it tasted like there was a lot of hoisin sauce or something similar in it. The bread they used was quite good. Service was not super friendly, and heads up that they only take Venmo (or cash, which they didn't even have change for a small bill for).
