Very poor customer service experience. Waited 8 months for insurance claim on a recliner and was issued an in store credit, but in order to get it I was later told I would have to give up entire set of Sofa, Loveseat, and chair. Will never do business with them again. 

Business response:

We did attempt to order parts which come from overseas. Once we were notified we could not get the parts we did offer a reselection on the set. Was offered for the entire set. If the customer does not want to return all pieces the credit can be adjusted for just the pieces the customer would like to return.

Extremely poor quality and awful customer service. Sectional frame broke within a year and the protection plan won't cover it because of some water stains. Took over a week to get answers on the claim. Quality is NOT what you get from this once reputable furniture store. 

Business response:

A technician was sent out to the home and found accumulation of damages and abuse. The warranty does not cover accumulation or abuse. The customer was refunded the cost of the extended warranty.

We purchased a VERY expensive mattress from the Hyannis store. After a year or two of use the mattress developed a defect. Bernie and Phyl's sent a technician to our home to do measurements and he determined the mattress was defective. Bernie and Phyl's initially issued us a credit to replace the defective mattress. After they found out that the ******* and ****** warranty called for a replacement (not a credit) Bernie and Phyl's changed their story and now, all of a sudden, the mattress was not defective after all. Business response:

Mattresses will conform to the bodies that sleep in the mattress nightly. Impressions are to be expected from use. The mattress does not measure defective, but rather normal body impressions. The customer has also reached out directly to the manufacturer who has confirmed this.

I purchased a brand new bed and mattress . Within just a short period of time I noticed small clusters of holes on the bed . As the weeks went on the holes were popping up non stop and I knew there was something wrong . I called an exterminator and they confirmed the bed was indeed INFESTED with powderpost beetles . They said they can live in the wood for up to two years before hatching and they were in the hatching phase in my home ! I called the company and they refused to give me my money back wouldn’t replace the matress... read more

Hi my name is ***** I bought a reciining chair with a remote control the control break I call the store they send a person to see the chair in November i call again and they told me they going call back i been call almost every day and the same thing all over again they goino to call back I need the control I am a eldery person I need the chair to help me in and out of the chair piease help thank you

This particular manufacturer warrants their own merchandise. Even though they warrant their merchandise directly, we did attempt to get the remote from them and were unable to. Bought a $6k living room set and part of it was a bar unit with stools. We hardly ever use it as it was literally bought for when he had company. Everything from the set is great except the bar stools. We have used them maybe five times and they fell apart. At first, we didn’t notice (we don’t really use them). Our 3 year old kept coming up to us with these screws asking what they were. Eventually we realized it was the crossbars of the bar stools. They were put together incorrectly and the screws were too small from Liberty... read more

The set has been in the cusotmer's home for over a year and therefore is out of warranty. We do offer an out of warranty service for a fee, but the customer declined.

Short Version - Stay away from Bernie & Phyl's. 1) Salesmen will misrepresent the items to make a sale, 2) spill/stain warranty is impossible to abide by and B&P will do anything to not honor it. Long Version - Purchased a "Sunbrella" couch for over $2,200. Was told by a sales representative that this fabric would be more resistant to stains than a typical fabric In addition, he explained that they have an amazing stain/spill warranty that will leave us completely "Worry Free".
