I live in Laveen and each I visit Cottonwood, I frequent Black Bear Diner. This my favorite restaurant here and in Laveen. My experience was especially unforgetable because Tanya and Monet were so gracious and friendly. The food was great also. Thanks and please continue being wonderful. God bless and keep your entire staff healthy and safe.

The food was great, and we've been there several other times. But yesterday the SERVICE was terrible! It was NOT busy, only about 4 tables being served. We had to wait a long time to get waited on. Then when we went to check out, it took a long time for someone to show up. Can't say we want to return any time soon. Just thought you should be aware. Thank you for allowing me to leave my opinion.

My fiancé and I went to the Black Bear diner in Cottonwood on Saturday for lunch. We had a wonderful experience on our last visit several months earlier, and were expecting the food and service would be the same. We hate to complain, but it was not the same, the poor waitress was stressed and overworked, she was working basically alone, and had only one other person that could help her service quite a fer patrons. The food was so-so, my turkey sandwich was served with cold white bread, not toasted, and was covered with what... read more

We recently moved to the area and had our first lunch at the Blackbear diner. We are not regular diner customers and were very surprised by the menu and the prices. The food was excellent and out of the ordinary diner food. Alex our waiter was very friendly caring and attentive. if you go there for a quick lunch the waiting times are too long.

I wish that you would bring some items back from your old menu.1) Chef Salad. (It's summer. I love salads. 2) Raspberry Vinegarette Dressing. 3) Bacon Blue Cheeseburger. 4) Spaghetti with marinara sauce. I used to eat there once a week, now it's like once a month. I did find another local Restaurant that makes a bomb Chef Salad!!!

Business response:

Hi Edwina - Thanks for reaching out to us! We are sorry to hear that you aren't happy with our menu changes. While some of the items you have listed are challenging for us to create as the ingredients are no longer available - We are able to make some items for you as we still have the ingredients! Please let us know next time you are in and let's see what we can do for you! Sincerely, Stephanie

What worked: We felt well attended by staff. The gift shop was nice, and items reasonably priced. . What did not work: We both ordered the wild salmon. Both servings were dry and hard and took dollops of ranch dressing to make it palatable We both took the broccoli and carrot side. The broccoli was so old that many of the florets were yellow. Again, ranch dressing saved the day. It was frustrating that most of the items in the shop had no indication of price, and staff had to pull a sheet and match codes to come up with the... read more

After church we went to the Black Bear diner. Marcus waited on us and the service was excellent and the food was so good! My husband had the biggest burger I have ever seen. He couldn't finish it and that is a first! Marcus was fun and He shared that he would like to be a trainer for the Black Bear company. I think it's great that he enjoys his job and is looking for a real career with them. It must be a good company because its not often a waiter shares a career goal like that one. Good food and good service. Go check it... read more
