In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Food was great! They had nice big portions and our waitress Paige was excellent. She provided fast and efficient service while waiting on us. I highly recommend sitting in her section. =)

My husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast and I got the taco salad. Both meals were great! I was blown away by the size of the taco salad and the shell was nice and crispy, not soggy like most places. Excellent service as well. We will be back!
Saturday mornings at the counter have become a weekly outing with my friend. Leslie and Malinda are the best employees! They always make it fun. When someone remembers what you like and/or asks you about your life, it makes the dining experience that much more memorable. We all move at such a fast pace these days. It’s really refreshing that these two ladies take a moment to slow it down and show they care!
