I really, really wanted to like this location, however I can't do it. I've been to the Black Bear Diner in both Beaverton and Madras and those experiences were what I would expect from a diner. This location really suits SE 82nd Ave in Portland: dirty, tired, disengaged staff. Disappointment would be an understatement. Hungry and driving down 82nd? Go next door to the food cart pod. LOTS to choose from and they are VERY service oriented.

Wow. Decided to have delivery from this Black Bear since I used to go to the Mount Shasta one as a kid growing up. First there were two items in my order and only one showed up. The burger was also supposed to have no pickles and no bacon - it had both. Then, it came with a total of four onion rings. Four. And they put so little thousand island on it literally was impossible to even taste. Incredibly dry and overpriced for the quality.

They sit you at a extremely small booth no asking even though you have been a loyal customer for the past 2 years but no more forget it, oh and booths and tables by the windows completely open. Apparently training isn't the thing here, friendly no more. Later watched as the unfriendly hostess left 2 elderly standing waiting for a table as she walked away to give a waitstaff person their tip from another customer who left. She then sat them by saying follow me and was half the restaurant ahead when she put down the menus ... read more

Came to this location and was deeply disappointed. Ordered the fried chicken dinner that I have ordered at other black bear diner restaurants and it's been great. After a hour wait my dinner finally arrived. The chicken leg was the size a drum wing the wing was equally as small and the thigh looks like it was broken in a half at some point. The breast was the only edible peace. And to top it off I asked to sub the Brest for a thigh. My waitress had told me that would be ok. Do to the extreme small sizes of the meat they wher... read more

Near-impenetrable breading on the chicken combines with a soggy, fresh-from-the-steamer waffle to to create a big bummer of a meal. I realize that chain restaurants are going to be relying on Sysco-level frozen offerings, but this failed to clear even that low bar. The burgers are good, and eggs and bacon are pretty safe, but this was just bad.
