I visited CareOne at Somerset Valley. I met with [Names Removed], looking for a place for my sister, who has dementia. They took the time to speak with me about their approach to dementia care. The staff looks for behaviors and triggers that can effect dementia patients negatively. If my sister isn't quite ready to get up in the morning, or she does feel like participating in an activity that is ok. ... for food, meds, cleansing. I'm bedridden and need help getting up . I would like to get out of my room more often. Don't get many visitors. Doctor came by this afternoon (don't see him very often ) and he asked if I was in pain. I said yes in both my shoulders. He prescribed a cream ointment. This was around 3:30 pm. It's now 7:20 pm and I have not yet received anything for my pain.
The staff are friendly and enjoy engaging the residents, putting a smile on their faces. Lots of open spaces and grounds available, very welcoming
My mom raves about how good the food is. My favorite thing about CareOne compared to her last place is that they have frequent trips - to Walmart, Target, the library, Goodwill, lunch at local restaurants, etc. I think it adds a sense of normalcy to her life. Shoutout to [name removed] on the activities staff - everything she does with the residents she puts 110% into.
Overall, individually everyone has been fantastic. I do think communication among the staff has room for improvement. I would recommend Careone at Somerset Valley. Overall we have been very happy.
They took care to clean, dress, and bring my mother to the general area each day. She always looked well groomed. We chose this community because it was more reasonably priced than where she was previously.
Based on the experience we have had so far, we think we would recommend the CareOne at Somerset Valley to other families. Most of the staff members working there are helpful and overall it is a safe place for our loved one

I think they do the best they can under the circumstances for example with short staffing and the pandemic. Some of the activities available include folding clothes, arts and crafts, and more for the residents to participate in if they choose to.
