PLEASE READ: I want to like this gym because I've been paying for it and they spent a year "upgrading" and I didn't use it much during that time. Anyway, currently June 2026 and I don't see much of a difference in the weight-room. This YMCA feels more like a daycare than a gym; there are kids *everywhere* and I get that school is out but there are literal babies playing on weight machines and no parents in sight. We do the aquatics classes. Incredible instructor. However a rather shallow pool. I don't like the carpet in the men's locker room. The shower area could use an overall, and parking can be difficult. In the end it's the helpful staff that make the experience. ~ G&V 🕊️
I previously had a complaint about childcare here literally LAST NIGHT and I am Pleased to say they got right back to me this morning the very next day! I'd like to mention to those they might have no gotten a response back is because the lady in charge has just gotten the job and someone may not have given your complaint to her yet/or ever 😩. I've always loved the Y. It was a big part of my childhood because of the city I grew up in. It offered plenty of community programs and lots of benefits to lower income families. We just recently joined the YMCA of Richmond, but it has been nice to use the things they offer. The gym, the sauna, the pool, the child watch. Workers are also friendly and accommodating, to a reasonable degree.
Chester Y is great because of its atmosphere. It's very clean. This Y like many others have a lot of different programs and activities for people of all ages. Kids can enjoy their time there at the Y and parents can have a peaceful workout. I also like that when I have concerns they are addressed and solutions are presented.
