We were planning a move to Idaho to be closer to family. Due to unforeseen family circumstances we are unable to make the move. Ive let them know (01/30/2023) that we wont be moving. Lease date does not start until 02/28/2023 and CPM is not only not returning any of my deposit ($2,250) but they are telling me that I am obligated to fulfill the lease terms. ****** signed a contract to lease a property and broke her lease prior to moving in. Although she did not occupy the property, a lease was signed and fully executed, along with the security deposit being delivered. There were no other terms or conditions that would state the contract could be rescinded or deemed invalid should any emergency occur of any kind. I had the unfortunate luck of renting a home from Cornerstone. When I arrived, there were 14-yard bags worth of leaves, weeds, and trash in the yard, ***** stuff floating in the toilet, and nothing was clean. I cleaned everything myself but noted the mess and disrepair on my move-in inspection form and took pictures of everything. Do not let this company “manage” your property (unless you want it destroyed and for them to do absolutely nothing about it). They assured us that they do everything in their power to find great tenants, but really they just try and get it rented as fast as possible. They let a young man with “two minors” (cornerstone led us to believe they were his children) move in. This turned out to be a man who was subleasing to other teenagers. We have had good communication throughout this turn and been in contact with the Owner. The Sec Dep covered most damages that are outside wear and tear. The Owners sold the home and kept money from the tenant which is due back to them. The tenants are in process of getting a lawyer. We have offered to meet with the Owner but they did not show up.
