We were there with 3 new brides to be. My daughter was the first to try on dresses. I think it must have been prom or something. After making the 3 hour drive (we had scheduled an appointment for all 3 brides about 2 months in advance) we had to wait another hour as they were running behind. My daughter was first to try on dresses, the gal helping us frequently disappeared and didn't come back for long periods of time. The alteration department was horrible. The alterations were not ready at the scheduled appointment time. We waited for an hour and it was still not done right. When I went back the next day to pick it up at the promised time, it wasn't even started. As I stood at the counter waiting AGAIN , for 40 minutes, I could hear the alteration department making comments about customers. VERY bad for business. However, the manager was very nice and professional. She took $50 off the fee for the alterations.
When I purchased my dress, which was a discontinued sample, I was told it would be in "like new" condition. After waiting for alterations to be done, the dress was not in "like new" condition. The hem of the dress kept flipping outward and didn't seem right. They kept saying it was the type of hem and that's just what it does. Considering the original price was over $1,000 I highly doubt any bride would pay that price for a dress that didn't lay flat! Between my daughter in law to be and myself, both dresses were screwed up. Both of us went for final fittings at different times and dates and they did not have the dresses done. I went for mine 3 days before the wedding and they kept looking for the dress. Come to find out they never worked on it and wanted me to come back another day. I am from out of town and had no time to come back. I insisted they do the alterations immediately. After a lot of yelling they did the job and I got the dress. I was scheduled to be there for my alterations at 9:30. When I got there they told me that the lady didn't get their until 10am. I was already annoyed but decided to wait until that time! So at 10am the lady arrives and tells me that she can't see me because she goes by appointments, but my appointment was at 9:30, and why didn't they tell me that when they schedule me to be there! The staff was extremely rude and not helpful at all. The did not want to be bothered that ok I found a better dress at a better price elsewhere!
This is by far the worst establishment I have had the unfortunate pain of purchasing items from the one located on W. 95th. My first time there (I wish I knew there names) my sister and I was being helped by one of the sales clerks, she took our measurements and handed us the one dress they had in stock from what the Bride had chosen and told us to go try on, when we came out of dressing room she had moved on to the next one and did not try to assist us further until it was time to pay for purchases.
