The Discovery Institute saved my life, plain and simple. I was terrified of detox, but the medical staff made me feel safe and comfortable through the whole process. The residential program gave me the structure I had been missing for years, and the counselors really challenged me to dig deep into why I was using. If you are ready to do the work, this is the place to go.
Very caring place. Not like other rehabs. I felt very safe here as there is staff present 24/7. Although I did not like the overuse of antipsychotics I witnessed. Other than that good food, nice staff, accommodating. If you go here with the right attitude, you will be setup for success! Facility was immaculately clean during my stay.
Unfortunately some lowlifes will be in there with you. Be wary of your personal belongings keep your valuables on you at all time. Please Do not let techs bring all of detox to the room together where you get your cigarettes. I felt uneasy about this situation right away and should have waited for the next opportunity to get another pack. The tech said in front of EVERYBODY “you got 9 packs left”. I experienced the MOST caring group of professionals, The nursing staff, every single one of those nurses in my opinion, deserve a raise. They put up with people coming in off the street after being on a drinking or a drug binge, some uncooperative due to going through withdrawal, some of them get their mouth going and cuss the staff out, the staff keeps a smile on their face and keeps it professional, They have a lot of patience to deal with people that are intoxicated like that. I am a volunteer with a nonprofit sober living. A lot of our residents have been to Discovery Institute and maintained sobriety. A common thing I hear them say about Discovery is how cared for they felt. They were treated like humans. Highly recommend.
