What did I order? Brisket, ribs, slaw, and potato salad. How did the food actually taste? Brisket and ribs had solid smoke flavor and were tender, presumably the result of a competition-style process. However, the meat lacked bark formation and had a soft, uniform texture throughout. I wish I got to try the pork steak or burnt ends, but Docs special and the smokehouse nachos were pretty great! The bread was excellent, the sauces were amazing (I liked the sweet and spicy/smokey, and Carolina mustard the most). The meat was very solid, tender, and flavored well.
They have some of the best smoked meats around. Their sides are always perfect as well. They now serve STL style pizza. Ribs are a 10 out of 10! We have used their Catering as well always a crowd pleaser!!!
Been here twice and the food is absolutely amazing!!! We’ve tried the burnt ends, pork steak, brisket, and pulled chicken and every meat was perfectly tender, juicy and delicious! We’ve had the Mac and cheese, baked beans and corn casserole for sides and loved each one! The baked beans were a 10, The brisket sandwich, good smoke, kinda dry and the hot and spicy BBQ sauce was definitely Illinois hot...Overall not bad, but nothing like I'm used to coming from Texas
