Easy to haul
I work on special art projects with a friend and since she doesn't have a scanner this will make our work so much easier. The box seemed tricky to open but once I found the clear tape tab on the left side it was easy. It opened on the short side which was unexpected. Came with a memory card 4G, a cable to connect to the computer for charging and a soft fabric pouch for carrying around. At first I thought I didn't get the pouch but it was packed with the battery. Love that it came with a pouch unlike my camera. However my camera did come with a charger that uses a regular outlet and this has to be charged with the computer or a Brother's product that was not included or the warantee might be voided. Scanned easily to the memory chip.

Could be better with more documentation and support

Portable No Nonsense Machine
This machine is easy to use and set-up. It's compact, travel friendly design appeals to me.
The item includes the scanner which measures about a foot long by a couple inces wide. The bottom is cushioned, and the unit is solid enough to take a drop. There is a rechargeable 1X2X1/4" Li-ion battery, a carrier sheet, a calibration sheet, a USB microcable, cleaning cloth and the 4GB SD Memory Card. The Quick Setup Guide is enough to get one started; a DVD adds the user guide/installer or one can go on line for further assistance.
All in all, this is a neat scanner. The simple controls offer one B/W or color and 1 or 2 sides. It totes 8ppm. After installing the battery, plugging in the cable to one's computer, inserting the Memory card, it's really for scanning. There's a small wifi switch on the side. They strongly recommend setting up a wifi network password to protect your data. See the images on the memory card.
We use this when we travel scanning our kids' drawings from menus and their journals and such, storing travel documents, receipts, just about anything. I think it's just become a way of life for us in keeping track and documenting our trips.
So far no problems, I'm not savvy on these tech things, as long as it works without eating up my day or making my head spin, I'm content. Happy scanning.

Easy Portability; Adequate Scans
Provides adequate two-sided scans. Its best value is clearly its portability and ease of use away from the office. It most easily scans to a memory card (4GB included) that can then be manually transferred to a computer for uploading. The images can be wirelessly delivered to a portable device (Iphone) or a computer by accessing the scanner via wireless settings and then viewing images via a web browser from which they can be downloaded.
I have to vent at this point and say that the hard copy Start Up Guide that is included and the User's Guide that is on the dvd-rom contain what is probably the worst user documentation I have seen on this level of equipment. The guide is necessary to figure things out and is not clear or overly helpful. It is easy enough to figure out how to scan to the memory card but connecting wirelessly required me to go to the Brother product website and support where I found clear and helpful documentation--it was only on this site that I learned there is a wireless network password on the bottom of the machine that allows users to connect wirelessly for the first time until a new password is selected. Otherwise, the network is locked and the Start Up and User's Guide both fail to acknowledge that the network comes locked and neither informs users of a built-in password located beside the serial number. In fact, the guides tell users the opposite that it won't be locked until users create a password--WRONG!
The quality of the scans is modest compared to office quality scans. This is a product that I would recommend for its portability, battery life, ease of scanning to a memory card if those elements are of more value than quality of images and ease of wireless transfer; otherwise, a more robust office scanner is recommended.

Nice, compact, easy to use scanner
I found this scanner very useful, easy to set up, easy to use. Once you get familiar with the interfacing, you quickly learn how to maneuver it. Set up was very easy. The scannings are all done in the SD card. You then plug the USB into your computer. Once you import your scans, they are very clear, including the color images.
My computer scans are located right where my Pictures are. Once there, they are easy to organize into folders. There is a nice legal size clear plastic for scanning smaller size papers or items too small for easy scanning.
I like the 2-sided scanning, easy to work with. You can do these in PDF or JPG. And, the other choice is Color or Mono. As of yet, I have not scanned with the WiFi. The unit works on a rechargeable L1-ON battery included.
I also took an old family color photo and it scanned beautiful.
This is very easy to carry around to various places in the your home. The scanner is light, compact. Once you scan, plug it in and there are all your scans.
If you are into an easy, compact, carry as you go scanner, this is it!
Contacting the Brother Support may be another challenge. I am attempting to remove scanned images and there is no way to contact support, except through live chat. Then a prompt says they are not available.
