I have a very complicated medical history and see more doctors in a year than most people see in their life.Dr. Merkel is hands down the best doctor I have ever seen. He's remarkably empathetic, intelligent, and informative. He takes every variable into consideration in regards to patient care, and goes above and beyond to make sure I have everything I need and that all my questions are answered. I've been seeing Dr. Merkel for years. I rarely have to wait in the reception area, he has great bedside manner and makes the annual visit easy and stress-free.
My co-worker recommended Dr. Merkel. I'm 60 years old and have seen lots of gyn's over the years. I like his bedside manner, knowledge and personality. Would recommend him to anyone looking for a good doctor.
I am impressed! I was able to schedule a new patient appointment right away. There was no wait to be seen when I arrived at the office. The staff are nice and answered questions I had before I scheduled my appointment. The office is clean. Dr. Merkel has the best bedside manner. He is thorough, knows what he is talking about, answered questions, is compassionate about my health concerns, explained in detail my options, he is honest, and I trust his treatment plan.
Dr. Merkel removes the awkwardness of these kinds of visits. He's personable, attentive, actually listens to any symptoms that I describe, and he makes it very easy to ask embarrassing questions without having to be embarrassed. He is honest and has provided me with good recommendations and guidelines as appropriate. From someone with low tolerance for pain and discomfort, note that he's also the most empathetic obgyn I've ever experienced - always gentle, equipment warm.
Very real, compassionate, and knowledgable. Helped me through a lot after my baby was born. Did an amazing job with my c section as well. Truly cares about his patients.
Let me save you the trouble— scheduling with Dr. Merkel is impossible. I have called several times in the span of over a month to contact the scheduler. I’ve left voicemails and messages with the office staff. YOU WILL NEVER REACH HER and therefore never get scheduled for any surgeries or vital appointments. It was my first visit with him and it will be my last. I experienced a lot of discomfort after my annual exam with him. I followed up with him about it, he responded, but then included that “discomfort” in his summary/notes as my original reason for coming in. I thought that was very dishonest. He also attempted to diagnose me without any prior knowledge of me or my body and went as far as suggesting future procedures.
