Dr. Schmidt is very easy to communicate with, she's very care and listens. She explains everything on a reasonable basis. She my new family Dr. and I hope to keep her for a long time. She is so right with the stuff I have going on and understands. Dr. Schmidt is a good asset for Westshore Family Medical. Her ladies/MA's that work with her are fantastic also and the office people are wonderful, too. I would recommend anyone to Dr. Schmidt and to Westshore Family Med.
I love Dr. Schmidt because she let's her patients direct their own care. She may not always offer her opinion right away, but if you are the type of individual that likes to research and make your own decisions about your own medical care, she is the best because she fully supports her patients' decisions. I had a difficult time deciding whether to vaccinate my children and she didn't give me a hard time about it at all.
Dr. Schmidt is my regular family doctor. I see her at least twice a year including once for my physical. She has done an excellent job managing my health issues. She takes time to ask good questions and listens to the answers. She has been very pro-active managing my cholesteral and blood pressure. Overall, I rate her as the best general care doctor I have ever seen. I recommend her to anyone looking for a good family doctor.
I went to Dr Schmidt for removeal of a Cyst/Boil on my chest .. Sprayed somthing on it and started to cut right away.. It was not numb and It was so painful (12+) and right after it was cut and pushed on she began to stuf the drainage plug in. Pain 15+ Iwas so drained when I left there. It was only her and I in the purcedure room and I Told her it hurt. I thought she would stop and try to numb it . but no.. I will never go to her again for this procedure. I went to Dr. Schmidt with my 5 year old daughter, broken growth plate on shoulder, referred to a specialist, so far so good. The specialist was rude and did not communicate with me once during the consultation, spoke into a microphone notes to Dr Schmidt. Charged $500.00 to my insurance. I protested to my insurance based on troublesome appt. During my next pap smear Dr Schmidt confronted me about my protest. DURING the gyno exam. After months of complaining of feeling tired and hearing the doctor tell you you are getting old, it took changing doctors and an emergency room visit to find out that my wife's potasium is low (2). We suspect that it has been low for some time and are hoping it has not caused permenant damate to her heart, lungs and/or muscels. I had my first physical w/ Dr. Schmidt and she didn't check for as many things as other doctors have. I had my cholesterol checked and two days later a letter was sent to me in the mail saying everything was normal. It would have been nice to see some numbers to know how close it is to being high or low or something. I have to call her and ask for more information. She just isn't very detailed. I plan on switching.
Dr. Schmidt is personable but that's about the only thing I'd give her a good rating on. I just had a "complete physical" which is about the only thing my insurance covers fully, once a year. Amy the nurse, spent more time that Elaine did. Had blood work a few days before and I had to go ask for results after Dr. Schmidt left. Then she came back and spent about 2 minutes going over the results. She was in and out of there so fast, I didn't even have a chance to remember to ask her a few things.
