I find Dr. De Hoorne sensitive, insightful, and sincerely interested in my well-being at every appointment. He is very skilled at asking useful questions. He also listens attentively and offers constructive advice and insights. I have great respect for his expertise in psychopharmacology and appreciate that our conversations are substantive and helpful to me, and are far more than routine medication check-ins.

Dr. Dehoorne helped me when I thought I could not be helped. It took 3 months of inpatient therapy and 6 ECTs but I have been able to move forward in my life. I tell many people who are in need of help about Chelsea Hospital and Dr. Dehoorne. They actually let you feel human, being able to move about the grounds and interact with staff and others.

He is a caring psychiatric physician. He worked with me on my treatment plan to make it best for me.

While waiting for an appointment, I heard Dr. Dehoorne shouting at and using harsh language with another patient. During my appointment he was rude and kind of antagonistic. His treatment recommendations were not effective. Skip this doctor if you can. There are good psychiatrists out there.

Dr. Dehoorne is insensitive, incompetent, and uncaring.

I have never felt an ounce of compassion or empathy. My appointments involve carefully going over medication but no real dialogue is present. No insight imparted regarding psychosocial issues best I guess left to the domain of a psychotherapist but I always left feeling unhinged rather than uplifted. I do not doubt his clinical acumen however.
