I’ve been keeping my stuff in a unit here for about 4 months and out of nowhere I get a post card saying the unit cost will be jumping from $65 a month to $131 a month which is double what I agreed to when I signed up. For some reason they don’t tell you that the price you agree on is a promotional price and the $131 is the real price. So now I have to pack up my stuff and get out of there because there are better and more affordable units in the valley.
Beware! Extra Space Storage told us a rental price at the beginning and NO ONE told us it was an introductory price. After 3 months we received a postcard stating that our monthly rent would be going from $114 to $171! That’s approximately a 50% increase! When we called the number on the postcard to ask about the huge increase we couldn’t get through to anyone for days. advertise low pricing then after 2 months increased my rates more than double. I rented my storage unit for $65 a month, then they made me do a required insurance for $11 a month. so $76 a month total. 2 months later i get this postcard in the mail saying my price is going up to. $134 A MONTH plus the damn $11 mandatory insurance, even though i have renters insurance that covers 100% of my personal property in my storage unit. I heard from someone I know after I had already moved my stuff into the storage unit that this company will raise your rent and continue to do so - which of course they don’t tell you when you’re signing up. It has turned out to be true for me. After 4 months they raised the cost $26 a month. And I have heard from others that that will keep occurring. I would choose another storage unit company if I had to do it over again and I recommend you do the same. Deceptive business practices.
Application was easy to fill out. I reserved my unit and was assigned a unit. Code and unit number were sent to email address. I arrived after hours. It was a pleasant surprised to find a welcome note and pad lock waiting for me in my unit. A couple of days later I went to the office to sign paperwork. The girls in the office were friendly and helpful.
