I've been to nearly every venue in Baltimore and DC. Elbow was the act at the 9:30. The show was beyond expectations. The sound system was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to see any of my favorite bands here. Great place, great experience. (FYI, I designed loudspeakers for several years. I've logged many hours performing critical listening tests to loudspeakers. It's subjective, but I've heard poor systems before, like at the Anthem.)

Fun place, awesome sound, great vibes! Saw the fantastic "Elbow" from the UK in concert there whole visiting DC, and would love to come back for another concert. The atmosphere feels very homy, and it's easy you tell the artists feel at home there. It's the 6th for Elbow, and they mentioned it's like a second home for them. Thank you DC and thank you 9:30! Hope to be back soon...

Historic D.C. venue with great artist and great sound! Venue has a ton of rock acts, with a sprinkling of hip hop and pop artists. 9:30 Club is the perfect size venue. A full show fits about 1200 people. It's all general admission and you can either hang out on the main floor or up on the balcony. The size is big enough to attract moderately large bands and get a great crowd response, but also small enough to feel intimate. This is a very cool venue! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The sound was great & lots of room to dance. Fitz & the Tantrums were great. The opening act—SnackTime were very good! Be mindful, you will encounter some people who feel like they’re entitled to stand in front of you and step on you. Use your elbows & legs 😁🙂😇! The black female bartender that I dealt with was incredibly nasty & useless—deduct 3 stars. She refused to answer simple questions but she was great at playing with her braids. Solid venue with a great track record of hosting talented musicians across a wide range of genres. The sound quality is generally excellent, and the space has an intimate vibe that makes for a good live music experience. It can get a bit crowded depending on the act, but overall it's a well-run spot with a loyal fan base. Definitely worth checking out if a band you like is playing.
