It’s difficult to put into words how much this facility saved my life. I arrived a hopeless, angry broken person, and for the first time in 25 years, I feel whole. As a client, I did not feel welcomed in this environment. The nurse manager was rude and did not treat people with kindness or respect. I also noticed that she spoke negatively about other employees to others, which felt very unprofessional. When leadership behaves this way, it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for both staff and clients. A healthcare setting should feel supportive and respectful, but unfortunately that was not my experience here.
Stay away from Gateway Carbondale. This place is more interested in insurance money than actual patient success. I was nearly finished with a 28-day program, but they tried to force an extension just to milk my insurance for more money. I ended up walking out on day 26 because of their greed and lack of transparency. I wasn’t the only one fed up; four other people walked out during my short time there. The counselors helped with emotional and alcohol drug problems, the administration was kind and work with insurance, the nursing staff is very helpful including a nurse named Amanda was extremely helpful with my medication, emotional, physical pain, and socially supportive she's a gem to the company there lucky to have her as well as Dr Katrina she helped with my Psych issues and medicine with out those two I'm not sure I would or could have stayed do to Psych and medical problems.
