Had an amazing experience with Hertz Christchurch! We were pleasantly surprised with a free rental upgrade to a brand-new Ford Ranger, which had only 24km on the odometer—essentially straight out of the showroom! I hired a car on the 24th April 2025 from Christchurch Airport. Today 28th April I needed roadside assistance about an hour out of Lake Tekapo. I made the initial call for roadside assistance at 11:50am. The assistant informed me that there would be a 15-90 minute wait. 90 minutes later I made a follow up call and placed on hold and then told they tried to contact the assistant would took my original call but could not contact them but they would call back…I never got a call back. very grateful to be given free upgrade to nissan xtrail epower. the car was super comfy, super fun to drive and fuel efficient. excellent customer service too, both the lady at the service desk and the gentleman at hertz parking lot were extremely friendly and helpful.
Hertz was easy to contact before the contract was signed, difficult to contact during the hire period. My booking was for a Model 3 Tesla. They gave me the slightly larger Model Y. The charging cables and adapter were stored neatly in the trunk, but the First Aid Kit listed on their website as included with the car, was absent. The car was very clean and its Warrant of Fitness was current for my hire period. The range of the Model Y during my travels in Canterbury was 380km.
