I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Lapels. I dropped off a dress for hemming and was quoted a price by the employee and assured it would be ready by a certain date. It was not ready by that date, and additionally, when I later arrived for pickup, I was billed over double what the quote had been. When I asked why the price was so different from estimate I was given, the employee told me that her original quote was a "likely/estimate" and thus they could increase the price as much as the tailoring required. If I could give no stars I would. I dropped off items for dry cleaning and was printed a receipt of roughly $90. I picked up the items and got home and saw I was charged $118. I called them and they said “oh yeah it was because we quoted you for laundry service and not dry cleaning”. I was never informed of this. Nonetheless I asked them to refund me the difference since they made the mistake and they told me it wasn’t possible. I took a business shirt to lapels recently with marks all over the front. They could not remove a single mark, despite two washes. They took my money though, without making any difference to the marks on the shirt. I went to Columbus Dry Cleaners in Columbus Avenue and they removed every single mark in one wash for $13. Did it in one go! They were not fazed, did not find it hard, did not even question whether they could do it! I would not use lapels again with any clothes that have marks and actually need to be cleaned well.
Lapels is the best! Clothes are always well prepared and delivered on time!
Quick turnaround which was great. Also, woman running store was very helpful with 2 unique / hard to clean coats I had.
