Scott was our agent for a home purchase and was a great partner over the course of several months. When we were first contemplating looking at homes, he helped us explore financing options and directed us toward an excellent credit repair service to get us in shape to actually qualify for a loan. Once we were ready to look seriously, he did a great job understanding our profile and which houses would work for us and which would not. He was very honest and helpful when looking at homes, helping to steer us away from ones that would not be the right fit or were not good values but also respecting our opinions. Never once did it seem he was in it for the commission but seemed wiling to keep looking forever rather than let us pull the trigger on a house that would be the wrong choice. Looking at homes with him was also a lot of fun.
Scott also stands out because he remains totally involved after the contract is signed, where some realtors tend to step back and just show up at the end to collect the commission. Instead, he was an advocate throughout the long contract-to-closing process (foreclosure) and worked with the other realtor, attorneys, and lender. He saw the deal through to the closing table and was also available after closing for our questions and follow up.
When we had an appraisal problem, Scott pushed to make the deal stick together by creatively having us shift to a 203K rehab loan. (And we used a lender he works closely with who is also amazing.) Scott also found us a great 203K contractor whom we are nothing but pleased with - and normally we do this kind of work ourselves so we expected to hate the contractor. Scott's people are always good, competent people - which means it's not just a pleasure to work with him but also the team of colleagues he's assembled. And Scott is a FANTASTIC combination of intelligent, thorough, attentive, pragmatic, honest.
