We went to see a GP on 20th February. Unfortunately, the Doctor was unfriendly and made us feel very uncomfortable straight away. After I asked for a referral to a specialist doctor, he said he’ll do it, then he told us to go away.
I arrived and there was no one there. The doctor walked out of the room on his phone and didn’t even introduce himself. He was extremely rude and dismissive from the outset and when I asked him why he was acting like this he actually became even more rude! He did a brief physical exam, couldn’t palpate my concern (for a lack of thoroughness) and even told me to cancel an ultrasound I had booked for later that day. I’m fortunate in that I have never before needed medical care outside of my home country (US), but with a suspected ear infection the day before flying home I had to find a way to see a doctor. I heard good things about the NHS, but that’s for registered patients who live in the country and my case clearly was not an emergency. Booked a blood test with the Kensington branch as I needed urgent same day blood results and they advertise 4-6 hour results. My appointment was at 9.30am and I got my results the next morning. This was annoying because my medication was dependent on that result. They take the samples to the lab at 1.30pm so it would probably be unusual to get a same day result. They really shouldn’t advertise this. The doctor was polite and careful with a pain free injection and the receptionist seemed lovely.
Not the most wonderful experience. I was anxious about a potential medical condition and the doctor didn't seem to bother or complete a proper assessment. It was about to be just a 5min visual check-up. I had to ask the doctor to do a blood pressure test for me. On the other hand, the lady at the reception “ Sara “ was helpful and friendly - I won't be back to the Kensington location.
