I moved with my family just last week, and soon we found it is really a great place to live. The ambience is great including our apartment, large community hall, media room, small community room and halls, and swimming pool. Every day there are very informative and entertaining programs, this results in a great community bond. The location is very convenient for shopping centers, restaurants, and hospitals. And not to forget professional, concerned, caring staff members.
This is my first review of McDermott 55. I have been a resident here for 1 1/2 years. I am most pleased with the professional management of this community. The maintenance crew has always responded with in hours of each request. I would recommend this community to anyone who searches for a 55 and over housing. Community. I went by McDermott 55 today, to tour the facility. Approaching the building, I noticed a broken window being held together with tape. I then notice the outside was aging. When I entered the building, it didn't have an inviting atmosphere. It felt more like it a large nursing home. I inquired of the average age of the residents but the receptionist said she wasn't allowed to disclose the primary ages of the population. I live in McDermott Crossing which is another building with the McDermott 55 properties here in Plano. I love living here The staff is great The rent is reasonable and it caters to seniors and the needs that they have. It's one of the best places I've ever lived.
Occupancy does not seem to be enforced. 55+ community allows children and grandchildren to live with occupant in unit above me 3 - 4 days every week. Children are extremely noisy during the designated 'quite hours'. I have lived at McDermott 55 since Feb 2025, noise reported, no change yet.
